1. My most successful project, yet unfinished, was the self portrait. The idea behind the project was to make the face have some sense of emotion in it, and not just do a mug shot of the person. Normally i could never draw a face proportionately and trying to get a unique look, or to show emotion, was even harder for me. the few parts complete in the portrait showed emotion, and were of proportionate distances from each other. The eyes were the right shape and the mouth was shaded well. (personally I'm just really proud of how much of a face this really turned out to be.)
2. The project that i want to spend more work on and make more detailed is the bottle i made for the transparency project. I spent way too much time on getting the blue a solid color that i didn't have enough time to add any proper details to the bottle itself. The edges could have used more work and the details were rushed. though this is my only finished project, it is the one that i could have done more on. i would have put more detail into the edges of the bottle, making it look more like an actual bottle and not just a collection of reflections.
3. In this class i found out that i really really like drawing trees. I have made two trees in projects so far, one made early in the year, one made recently. I have still yet to perfect the texture and shape of leaves, yet the bark i have become much better at the details and curves. I used the scratch board to really get all the detail in the bark, while with the colored pencils I more got just the colors for texture.
4. I learned so much from the figure drawing, before it I couldn't draw proportionate bodies to save my life. Already i have done more with figure drawing in personal drawings of mine. The contour of Kristen also helped with my proportions of people. I know that some people struggled with the figure drawings, but it just clicked in my head.
5. I loved the scratch board like everyone else, the way it works and how different it is makes it such an interesting thing to work with. the silver added such a nice effect with shading, making things brighter than they first appear. you could really use different texture techniques to make each scratch board different.
